If the overall view of some dancehall fans who were interviewed in the Corporate Area is representative of the way Jamaicans feel, it would appear that Spice is the new dancehall queen.

At the same time, it appears that Beenie Man’s place on the throne is in trouble as fans have suggested that Vybz Kartel, Bounty Killer, and even Popcaan and Aidonia can lay claim to the prestigious title of king of the dancehall.

Who do you think deserve the titles of Dancehall King and Dancehall Queen?

Taneisha Campbell:

“I think Spice deserves the title of Dancehall Queen. She fit for it with her fashion, and of course, Bounty Killa, full time him get the title. A long time him in this thing. Mi just love him, all him ignorance too. Same like Spice, them say how dem feel and jus don’t care.

Tony Swaby:

Right now Spice have the proper Dancehall Queen image and she is a role model. Although Beenie Man, as a veteran, earn the title, him don’t fit in currently. Vybz Kartel a di greatest lyricist weh rise up fi a while; irrespective of being incarcerated him must get the title of Dancehall King.

Andrea Virgo:

I think Beenie Man is still the King but as soon as Vybz Kartel come out we can talk about him. That is unless Alkaline, Popcaan and Aidonia come up and take the title from Beenie, who is on his way out. Spice is making her way to earn the title, she is way ahead of Ishawna, Tifa, and D’Angel for the crown.

Ricardo Francis:

The king is Popcaan because is a hit artiste weh do tune the people can relate to. And the Queen is Spice. Fi a female artiste, she versatile and (have) good style.

Johnathon Onfroy:

Nuh mus’ Spice a di queen, who else come can do it? The king deh a prison.

Tenesha Blake:

The queen goes to Spice. She been working hard for it. Mi nuh listen to much of the males, Vybz Kartel a my deejay but can’t get it if him in prison. So if I suppose to choose, Aidonia him in it for a while now and come from far.
