In 2011 Hanif Chito started Kimichi Records with his sister Stacy Ann Chito and his daughter Kimberly Chito. The name Kimichi came about with combining his daughters first and last name. Music has always been one of Hanif’s loves as he played on sounds such as Infinity and Nemesis as a disc jockey.
After being introduced to the producing side of music by Don Corleon and Kool Face in 2008, Hanif decided to start his own recording label by the name of Omega Music but that was short lived due to differences with partnership; leading to the birth of Kimichi Records
Since the birth of Kimichi Records from 2011 Hanif has released one rhythm and two singles from this label. The rhythm released was Praise Rhythm which featured artist such as Lutan Fyah, Norris Man, Derrick Parker and Edge Michael. The Two (2) Singles released were Touching You by Timmy T and Lion in the Jungle by Ras J. This Single Touching You has received rotation (air play) on the radio airwaves by all of Jamaica’s finest radio stations including Zip FM, Irie FM, Hitz FM, RJR, Hot 102 and many more. Lion in the Jungle has also been getting a lot of rotation but mostly overseas in France, Holland, Amsterdam and all Major Radio stations in Europe. The label also specializes in artist development and is currently working with upcoming artistSquaddy known for songs like , Eva Fresh, Can’t Take The Stress, and the recent single Weh Yuh Deh. They also recently signed a young artiste who goes by the name of Banna Wiss and will be releasing songs with him soon.
Hanif has also been exercising his talents as a producer by co-producing several tracks including Shawta Nutten by Munga Honourable and Come Where You Going by Christopher Martin with his cousin Richard Pearson of Mosiah Muzik which on the other hand was featured on Christopher’s new album that slated to release in Japan- both singles has also gotten a lot of rotation (air play) from top radio stations and also with Mad Media House on all of their latest projects including True Colors Riddim, Number One Riddim and Bugle Things We Do For Love
The composer for Kimichi Records is Dane Sortie, a young talented musician the label recently signed to their team.He composed their first dancehall riddim compilation entitled ”World Quake Riddim” which featured artistes like Cee Gee, Zagga, J-Yungg, Squaddy,
